Summer Concerts & Fireworks
Every Saturday through Labor Day weekend enjoy FREE summer concerts at the historic Oceanfront Bandshell. The concert series offers an eclectic mix of musical styles each week including: rhythm and blues, bluegrass, rock, country, big band, swing, jazz and Dixieland. Bonkerz Comedy Club - August 20, 9 p.m.; August 21, 8 & 10 p.m. - The Penthouse Lounge - LaPlaya Resort & Suites - 2500 N. Atlantic Ave., Daytona Beach -- Ian Gutoskie has been featured on FOX and CBS with Carmen Morales.   Gutoskie's show is best described as a freight train hitting the stage. This wonderfully insane and loveable giant uses his 6' 7” frame to guide you through his experiences of getting older, skydiving, his four dogs and the ritual of girls' night out. FREE Summer Movies - August 13, 7 p.m. Historic Oceanfront Bandshell.  This outdoor movie favorite will feature Moonstuck staring Cher and Nicholas Cage.  Note; Did you know that Cher won a Best Actress Oscar-award for her performance in this movie which was released in 1987?

Daytona Cubs Baseball - August 14, 7:05 p.m. Jackie Robinson Ballpark - 103 E. Stetson University Presents - Through December 3, 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Monday through Friday -- The Stetson University Duncan Gallery of Art at Samson Hall - 421 N. Museum of Arts & Sciences Presents - Through November 10, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Tuesday - Saturday, and 11 a.m. - 5 p.m. Sunday -- Spruce Creek and the St. Johns River: Silverprint Photography of Lee Dunkel.  This selection of Dunkel's work reflects her intimate study of geographic areas and anomalies found in nature, while using the photographic techniques of Ansel Adams to capture the sernenity of the Florida landscape.   For more information call (386) 255-0285 or click here.

Lyonia Environmental Center (LEC) - Deltona Regional Library Complex - 2150 Eustace Ave., Deltona - 11 a.m. - noon, August 28 -- Hurricanes!  Learn how hurricanes occur, and conduct an experiment to create your own hurricane.  Admission is $4 for adults; $3 for seniors and $2 for children.
